Well Travelled Chintz Desk from Calgary Chintz & Co. 72"L x 30"W x 29"H This desk has had several owners in its travels across Canada. Likely around 18 years old. I bought this last fall for $450, was $2,000 new. I've only seen one other online on Used Victoria. Original color is a beautiful ebony/onyx black. I spent hundreds of dollars stripping, sanding and repairing it as it was in rough shape both structurally and cosmetically. Unfortunately, due to life circumstances I wasn't able to do the final round of sanding, paint and sealer. The desk is absolutely stunning and a worth while investment if you want a solid desk with lots of work space. This desk looks great from all angles as it's drawer side has so much wow factor, while the front facing side is more simple and classic. While it hasn't been to the arctic, I call it the HMS Resolute Hayes desk because it went to hell and back with me, and now it's almost good as new . Features a pull out keyboard tray, and flyout cabinets for the printer and computer tower. Two of the drawers originally had built in plastic slots for computer disks. All drawers, doors and pieces will need to be assembled after the final finishing coats. I've already bought all the hardware for it and have all the original screws, nails and hinges. I have a hundred or so photos of it's restoration process that I'm happy to share with serious buyers, and of course, you can have the entire chronology of photos if you buy it. I also have an antique chair painted to match with the original paisley and thistle upholstered cushion which has already been shampooed. You may wish to completely change it. It is from Cochran Chair Co. Aurora Indiana, Number 1390 as per label. The entire set would be adorable for a young girl's room or for a women's home office. However, you could refinish it to suit any look. I highly recommend this for someone that loves to refinish furniture and has some experience with special desks like this. It was going to be my 'forever desk' but I moving far away and it's not convenient to take it with me. I probably invested a $1,000 into it because of all the sandpaper, filler and stripper. This desk killed me lol. I hope it goes to someone really special.
